Direct from WD Support: “unfortunately the AC-3 sound codec is not supported on the WD TV Live Hub Media Server”
I ran into a problem where home movies encoded with AC-3 would not play sound. WD Support came back with that this. I ran the video through Nero Re-code and now the sound comes through.
AC3 is the same as Dolby Digital, which is certainly supported (in most of its flavors, but not all.)
All of my videos with AC3 audio is working so its supported
AAC is the one that’s not fully supported. No multichannel, only stereo.
