Can I convert existing folders into shared folders to prevent having to copy?

I’ve had a several folders on my EX2 ultra in a public folder, but am now working on more secure folders. Is there a way to convert existing folders into shared ones. The problem is that in order to move existing content on the drive into shared folders it all has to be copied to the new folder(s) and yet it already exists on the drive. In one case I have a media folder that is more than half of the entire capacity so it would be impossible for me to copy it to an access controlled folder.

Hi tangierc,

Maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this.

The link below will allow you to call support.

You cannot do that. There are various for that. 2 options:

  1. you can make the public folder not public and add a password and create another folder called public 2 for open files

  2. ftp to move it over and recursively delete behind you.
