Hi,
I connected a WD My Book to a WDTV Live Streaming Media Player. WDTV Live is connected to a home network on Windows 7. With this setup, I can see the WD My Book as a share on the local network and access the files from anywhere inside the LAN. Can I configure WD Smartware to backup files from my desktop to this WD My Book? When I run WD Smartware it does not show the WD My Book as an external drive and the Backup tab is greyed out.

No, it is not possible for Smartware to backup using this configuration.
