I have a WD my passport external drive WD10JMVW. My problem is it take ages for windows to reconize drive is there and once you try to do anything you computer virtually freezes. It does not show there is anything on the drive at all, it has 12000 songs on it which i would like back. If you try to run a program to try and fix it the program will not run all at says its not responding.

Have you tried connecting the drive to another computer? Have you tried connecting the drive with another cable? Because what you are mentioning it seems that the unit is damaged.
