Can access NAS private shares in windows

On my Windows network, I can only access the public folder from my WD MyCloud PR4100.
I can see the private folders but if I try to access I just get “access denied”.
I did a support chat with WD and they told me you CANNOT lock a share down to specific users over a Windows share and that for Windows shares, public is the only option. I can access shares if I log into my mycloud.com account.
That doesn’t even seem right.
Can anyone confirm this?

What is the exact error message you are receiving?

Windows generally doesn’t allow a user to use two different sets of logins to access a local network NAS. Check the Windows Credentials Manager to ensure there is only one My Cloud entry and that the account indicated in that entry has access (in the My Cloud Dashboard) to the Share you are attempting to access but getting an error message on.
