Hello everyone, I’m sure that some of you are familiar with this flaw in WD’s Mybook. The mini USB connection on the drive broke off and now I cannot access my files. I have already read many threads and I know that WD will only replace the drive, data recovery costs around $900, and connecting the drive to the motherboard won’t work. Has anyone figured out a solution to this problem…Thanks in advance!
Maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this. You can do so either by phone or email.

I and many others have already tried getting help from WD. I told them my exact situation, and all they could do was replace the hard drive. I even asked for the specific part that was broken, but they told me it wasn’t possible. With data recovery (what they suggested) at $900, I’m searching for more affordable options.
I’ll probably end up buying a new drive and swapping out the parts.
