Broken HD WDEP

Hello,

first of all, sorry about my english…

I have a WD Elements Play 3.5" 2Tb. The internal Hd is broken because of my fault and I am trying to change it with other HD that I have, but when I switch on it says that Its not the original disk… What can I do?

Now I am usiing the USB drive to see films, but it is not the best way…

What kind of disk did you try to use?

Hello Tony,

thank you for your fast response. It is an standar sata 160Gb Hd.

I tried other disk (also SATA and about 120gb…).

A new firmware is needed to address this , as it is a bug. The PS3 HD can be replaced so why cannot this?

I have tried with 2 different hd. First is a Seagate barracuda (st3160023AS)  and the other is a Samsung spinpoint (sp1614c). Both are 160 Gb Sata disk…

They must be WESTERN DIGITAL brand.   WD isn’t going to allow NON-WD drives in their products…
