Broken connector on My book 1TB

I have a 1TB external drive with a damaged usb connector. Since the external drive is no longer under warranty I removed the hard disk from the case. I installed the HD in a Dell tower, the BIOS recognizes the drive as well as the operating system (Win 7). However, the drive does not appear in Windows explorer. When I looks at disk management under computer management, it tells me the drive needs to be initilaized. I do not want to do that as I need the data on the drive. I have tried a different dell tower and got the same result.

If it’s a drive that came with Smartware then it is hardware encrypted by the board with the broken port. See if you can get an electronics repair place to resolder the port back on.

Thank you Joe, I will do that.
