Blu-ray on HDTV gen1

Hello to all.

Can HDTV (generation 1) play blu-ray format?

Thanks for answers.

Regards,

Bosti

Yes & No really, No it won’t play a duplicate such as an iso or folder BUT, it will play the original movie files in the m2ts format.

Most Blu-rays have the movie as a single and very large m2ts file with all the other rubbish as little ones. If this is the case then all you ned do is extract it and save it to a HDD for playback. The movie will be 100% identicle to the bluray and all the differnet sound options will be there too.

A few movies (normally big Sci-Fi ones) will be loaded with nerdy content meaning the film comes on several m2ts files and then it gets more complicated.

Terminator 2 Skynet edition was a bit of a nightmare and more recently Iron Man 2 was a real gem as it not only comes spread across loads of m2ts files  but you have to know how to remove the cgi “Shield” weapons overlays.

Iuse a gen1 for main TV and a Gen2 for bedroom. (gen 1 is better)
