Hello,
Please forgive my novice-ness…
I just recently unboxed my new WD Cloud. So far, everything seems to be working fine.
I have a conceptual question… Would it be better to use this drive as a backup for the data on my computer’s interla hard drive, or would it be better to move the files to the drive, and off the computer completely? Are there any pros or cons for either way?

Well, yeah, your first idea backs up your data. Your second doesn’t.
Assuming the OP instigates a backup procedure for the MyCloud, then here are some other considerations.
The MyCloud is intended to be an always-on data and media server. So, if you want access to your dara and media without having your PC running, or you don’t have enough space on your PC to store all your data and media, then you can use your MyCloud as your primary store.
Personally, I use the MyCloud as a primary media store, but a secondary data store (PC is primary data store). I have a backup regime that backs up media and data to external hard drives, and data to the MyCloud as well.

I use MC as a sharing device and media server. There are multiple devices in my home that connect both hard wired and via wifi. Any speed sensitive applications (in my case Photoshop Elements) use the host computer for main storage and are backed up to MC.
