I think that version 1.15 is the best stable version.
I prefer newer firmware revisions in general due to new or expanded features.
Yes, the new version does have more features.
If I wanted a player for apps, I would have bought a Android unit with Kodi.
I bought my WDTV to PLAY VIDEOS I downloaded.
I network it to my computer and just drag and drop the video file to the portable HD attached to it.
