Being read in BIOS but not installed in windows

hie inteligent pple

I have a 40gig HDD which i bought a day ago,fresh out of its packaging. When I put it in I checked in bios to see if it was being read,and there it was. Yet after i proceded to windows (using windows xp sp3) it wasnt picked up in device manager or disk management. After a night of hastle i slept infront of my monitor,to wake up in the morning to find a pop up in the corner mentioning “Found new hardware” but after that nothing occured. Help

Hello Mate,

Are you able to see your drive in Disk Management? If so, is the drive initialized? If not, you will need to test your drive with a different computer.
