Beep of death

Hi all,

I just got the dreaded beep of death when I plugged in my 500g External - I’m on an oilrig for the next couple of weeks and it has all my movies and music etc on it.

Nightmare.

I’ve tried a new cable and tried to launch it on a couple of different computers - both PC and Mac but no joy.

Is there anything that can be done to try and kick start it back to life?

Its going to be a boring trip without any entertainment.

Harveyok,

This is most unfortunate. Is the device not recognized on Mac OS Disk utility or Windows Disk Management? How frequent are the “beeps” your hard disk drive is providing? Do they appear just when connecting the unit? How is the power adapter? Is it connected into a power strip?
