Bare Bones, no backup, no network discovery, just plain disk

My computer has three WD USB drives.
I must have installed WD software when I bought the disks.
I use these as bare bones storage, no automatic anything, no WD backup, just Windows disks.
Can I remove all the WD software, e.g. WDDriveService.exe, utilities, Smart whatever? E.g. WDDriveService.exe runs for no apparent reason, so I want it to go away.

Hi groundfault,

Yes, you can uninstall all the WD software if you don’t use them. That does not going to effect the performance of the drive.

Thanks!
The WD software is nice, and serves a purpose, but it is outside my needs for the eight disks I have sprinkled around the house (2 data and 6 backups).
