BAD performance of two 20EARS drives in Win7 striped volume

Recently bought two 20 EARS drives with intent to use them for media storage. Made a striped NTFS volume first on 2003 server, Acronis align tool failed to detect it. deleted everything, re-created partitions in Win7. Now 2003/XP can’t mount it and write speed even on Win7 rarely goes over 40 Mb/s for big files. AS SSD benchmark tool shows partition as misaligned and both align tools do nothing.

Since there’s been no replies, maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this. You can do so either by phone or email.

Note: Just for you to know, WD Align will not recognize the drives in an RAID configuration.  Besides, those drives are not designed for RAID use, and will most likely fall out of the array if you try to use them.
