Backing up Program Files

When I purchased the MyBook Essential I was told that it would back up all my Program Files.  I have completed my first backup and this does not appear to be the case.

Can anyone please tell me whether a full backup does backup Program Files or if not how do I get these backed up. If my laptop dies I just want to be able to retrieve everything including my Microsoft Office etc  to the new backup and go back to work.

The Smartware only backs up certain files. If you’re talking about system backup you need something like this  http://support.wdc.com/product/downloaddetail.asp?swid=119&wdc_lang=en or Macrium Free http://www.macrium.com/ReflectFree.asp I use the Acronis True Image paid version.
