Backing up on new PC (myPassport) - same HDD, different volume label

Hi there,

Hopefully this is a straight-forward one to resolve…

I backed up my computer’s HDD, built a new PC (motherboard/processor) and moved the previous HDD to the new PC.

I’ve installed WD SmartWare (v 1.6.4) on the new PC.  However when I come to Backup, there’s now a new JON_PC folder in the WD SmartWare.swstor directory.  The previous computer was JON-PC.  Although the HDD is the same, the folders have different Volume names, eg: JON-PC\Volume.b62xxxxx.02xx.1xde.bxxx.80xxxf6exxx3

In the Backup tab it says Files Not Backed Up.

Can I simply rename the JON-PC folder on the WD to JON_PC?

How do I stop the WS software duplicating the backup/files?

Thanks!

I guess if the Volume names are different smartware will recognize it as a different PC. Don’t know how you can fix that aside from making the other PC look exactly like the old one.

Ok, so there must be a feature in the software, or workaround for this.  I can’t see this being an outlandish scenario.
