Back up vs Copy

I have 2 old 1TB internal drives that I have from my old computer that I am copying the video files onto my new WD 1 4TB external drive.  I am getting confused with “copy” vs “Back up”.  I just want to archive my 2tb of video files onto one drive.  Do I copy them (send to MYBOOK) or do I “back up” using the WSD encloised software… I am confused…

Hello, the only difference is that one is manual the other automatic. Smartware will explore you computer and it will create a copy of the files that you have on your computer, inside the external hard drive. Check the links below for more information.

I would copy them then they can be retrieved on another PC without installing any software.
