I just checked on coincidence my cloud home to do some updating. Just curious looking at some photos, I happened to notice that I had file names like:

IMG_6489_1
IMG_6489_2
First I thought they were doubles, but the I saw they were distinct pictures with maybe years apart from each other. And then I got reallllly frustrated. Because there is no way I can and will re-arrange them. Arranging them on date is also not possible because the Cloud takes the upload date as the date the picture was taken.
I also tested my iPhone by taking a picture, deleting it (completely) and take another picture if he will use the same name again. But that’s not the case. My only guess is that it starts counting again when you reach picture after IMG_9999. But that’s a theory. What can I do about the situation? I would like to have everything in chronological order in dates.
Apple doesn’t let you export metadata from their photo library, it is proprietary data which ensures Apple users will stay with iCloud Photo, an Apple business decision. But there are partial solution:
