Apple Support to users: to avoid …data loss, don’t store your library … on a device shared over your network or internet.

… (and) you can’t store your library on a storage device used for Time Machine backups.

This is pretty much a drop dead message to NAS manufacturers and their futile efforts at Apple support.

If there is any doubt as to what this is all about, it is about a monopoly in choosing a cloud or network storage location.
