Any way to register a My Passport drive without a serial number?

I have a 1TB My Passport drive (might be a My Passport for Mac, but can’t be sure) which has failed, and the sticker with the model & serial numbers on it is so scratched up it can’t be read. I know I bought this within the last two years, so I’d like to get it replaced under warranty. Am I out of luck, or is there any other way to register it and get it replaced?

FYI, the drive doesn’t even mount on any of my Macs. It makes a repetitive noise, like it’s trying to spin up, but can’t.

Any suggestions?

Any possibility that it’s alive enough for WD Data Lifeguard software to read the serial number?

Doubtful, as it won’t even mount (and it doesn’t appear in Disk Utilty at all either). Where can I download a copy of that software, to see if it’ll recognize the drive somehow?
