Any Idea

So, my hardrive “died”(aka, the usb port on the hardrive came loose) and having all information on it and absolutely NO backups, we decided fixing it was better then proceeding with warranty.  My father is a computer engineer, the hardrive is Fixed…except.  Because of dying(we believe) the hrdrive claims to not have a partition, yet still has the smart ware installed.  IOn fact, it asks me to unlock it, shows me that I have some sort of informtion on it(in the unlock page) but when if goes to the actual my book page, it says thre is no space left, and ifg i attempt to back up, I get the “your hardrive is locked or missing the WD partition.” any ideas on how to get to the information?

Unfortunately, unless tech support can help you, I doubt you will be able to recover your data.  With the password protection, the drive is encrypted.  So, data recovery won’t even be an option.  Try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this. You can do so either by phone or email.
