Android MusicPlayer with integrated samba and UPnP-Renderer

After trying about 50 music apps from google store (without success)

I tried a different kernel with cifs support again.

Yesterday night it was sucessfully  !:heart:!

I simply had to mount with cifsmanager (with MountManager and terminal it is still not working).

So after weeks of going through the **bleep** of cifs I finally followed KAD79

"… I would try cifsmanager from google play … "  and used the cifsManager again.

You gave me  the right direction KAD79, thank you thousand times !

My mistake:

  • I tried to mount (only) the IP (192.168.0.x) of our WD SMP and

  • I just had no or just one “/” before the IP

Correct is:

Mounting the IP of WD SMP *AND*

the HDD device name (my directly connected USB-device has the name HD_ALPHA),

so I must use at least //192.168.0.x/HD_ALPHA

Now it is possible to set a local mount-path to the USB-device on my HTC mobile and even set

the same mount-path inside the UpNP App BubbleUpnP.

Now the WD SMP  can play directly complete folders from the attached HDD without running a

Twonky server or having to turn on the TV for navigation

WOW that’s great news that it’s up and running

PLAY MEDIA FROM AND TO WDTV LIVE AND ANDROID:

Cifs/Samba (add usb-drives connected to WDTV Live as share in app)

-Audio: ArmAmp, BsPlayer, Es File Explorer’s built in media player, XenoAmp and Neutron

-Video: Dice Player, Archos Video (also install codecpack) and BsPlayer

Dlna (stream media from Android to WDTV live):

BubbleUPnP (the best but not free), Wondershare Player, UPnPlay (only few videocodecs), 2Player (only audio), Flips (only use that for Youtube via option share)

(Pictures to WDTV: BubbleUPnP and UPnPlay)

Find network adres from WDTV Live: do for instance a serverscan with ES Explorer, or use the app Sharesfinder, etc.

Note 1: could not get subtitles working using dlna on WD TV. Probably due to WD TV, my smart TV from Samsung has no problem with subs.

Note 2:Best option for cifs/ smb used to be Cifs- and Mount Manager. But stock and many other Android’s do not support that anymore.
