Android app "blinks" while reading directory

I am trying to list the contents of Public > Shared Music on my WDMyCloud using my Samsung Galaxy S3 Android phone. The app is My Cloud 4.4.8 (latest update available). My screen will show the directory contents for a fraction of a second then goes blank - not totally blank - it does have the header and the divider lines that normally separate the files. Then the screen will come back with a file listing for a fraction of a second and then blank again. It will do this for 10 to 20 times before it settles down and then finally displays the listing.

Any ideas??

*Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the My cloud application?
*Do you face the same problem accessing the list using my cloud app on a different phone?
