After the latest update (Oct 2019), your Drive Utilities and Security software stoped working

Continuing the discussion from MacOS Mojave Fail to Install WD Utilities or WD Security:

After the latest update (Oct 2019), your Drive Utilities and Security software stoped working entirely. 2017 iMac 5K, 40MB RAM, MacOS Mojave 10.14.6
I’ve had to troubleshoot this in the past after another glorious WD software update, dumped apps and Lib files, downloaded new installers, etc. etc. things worked again after not one but two, three tries. What is the point -if any- of greeting software that make things “easier” for the users by giving us headaches every few months?

Hi AfCathaCa,

I would suggest you to install WD Discovery and try to use WD Drive Utilities in order to isolate the issue.

Under the issue of security, I have 2 curiosities.
1.) Does anybody know if there is a support video on how to setup the new firmware for MyCloud and MyCloud EX2 Ultra so the public directory can not be accessed from outside the network, but yet allow devices inside the network to still upload there photos and videos while at home. Due to a few to many bullets to the brain housing group, I do better with videos then I do with reading.

2.) Is it really possible for someone to drop and bad payload (or any) in a video that could exploit your machine. If there is, what software would find such a file in your video library? My virus scanner doesn’t ever seem to detect much.
