Active Directory users/groups/shares will not populate on PR4100

Running into a bizarre issue here. I’m attempting to connect both of my company’s WD MyCloud devices to our Active Directory. The first one, our EX2, worked perfectly and the domain users populate on the management webpage without a hitch. The second one, our PR4100, is having issues.

Whenever I attempt to view the users/groups/shares on the system, it will just sit and spin saying “waiting for users” (screenshot attached).

I get this issue on the users, groups, and shares tabs. Inspecting the webpage reveals a bunch of 504 errors.

Not sure if it is related, but I am also getting this error under the system log: “CIFS: Authentication for user [nobody] has FAILED.”

Anyone have any ideas?

Have you read through this?

Yes, but after further troubleshooting it’s not related to the active directory user issue. I made the primary share temporarily public and then connected it to AD and the CIFS errors went away, but I still can’t see any AD users/groups or view the shares after connecting it to AD.

You may want to SSH into the PR4100 and check the logs or your AD server’s logs.

AD is fine. It works with our other WD device. Which log file should I be looking at? There are quite a few.

Release note,
Resolved an issue in My Cloud Dashboard where some users were not able to view Active Directory users in the users management screen.

Our PR4100 has been on 5.24.108 for several weeks already.

Great question! I’ve never used AD before in this context.
