Accessing with Finder/Explorer when Public folder is set to off and only certain users enabled

Hello!

I’m trying to set up a certain folder for freelancer to drop files onto but do not wish them to be able to access the Public folder. I set up the Public folder access to off and only enabled in-house team members to be able to access them. However, I noticed when I did this, we no longer are able to access the server from Finder.

Is there a workaround for this?
What’s the best way to create temporary account and folder for freelancers?
