Accessing iPhoto library extremely slow

My apologies if this has been answered earlier. I tried to search a lot but didnt find anything specific. 

I recently bought MyCloud and I use Mac OS 10.9. I have transferred the entire iPhoto library package to the device and using iPhoto with that is extremely slow. The reason I bought the device is for cloud storage and also as wi-fi external hard disk where I can store my iPhoto library. Looks like I cannot use it for the latter. Is there a way I can make this process faster or its just not meant to access iPhoto from Mycloud. Thanks

Hi thesaint580, what transfer are you getting when you copy a file manually?

I am getting speeds of about ~9.5 Mb/sec when I copy a file to MyCloud. 

Looks like iPhoto won’t work properly when used through wifi on external HDD.
