Accessing Backed up Files

I have a question about backed up files on the 2tb external. I had a Alienware x51 that I backed up windows and everything onto the external. Unfortunately that pc surged a while back and my laptop is the only thing I have at the moment. My question is there anyway to see the files in the image back up? I’d like to get some videos that I have on there. When I go to the file it just says sorry, there was a problem mounting the file.
