I use three separate WD Mybook USB3 drives for my backups. Acronis True Image. I have attached them to a 5 port USB3 accelerator card. My question is, Does the firmware on the drives affect the speed thruput from card to drive and from drive to pc? If it does how do I update the firmware?

We would recommend you connect the drive directly to the computer rather than using a USB accelerator card.
