About to Buy a WD LIve TV Streaming Player

Hello all,

I am about to pull the trigger on buying one of these, but wanted to know from you all if it is a worthwhile purchase, or should I be looking elsewhere. I originally bought a Netgear NeoTV 550, but was disappointed to find no Netflix support. I plan on streaming media from local devices, as well as Internet based sources. Is this unit still being supported, and is new content being added?

Two things to keep in mind:

  1. Doesn’t support Amazon instant streaming, and there’s no indication WD devices ever will.

  2. WD will stop supporting the box after about a year, when they release a new generation device.

Otherwise, the one I have is pretty good.

The HUB has been receiving updates for well over a year now… and no indication of that stopping.

The Live has received updates for almost two years; and WD has indicated there will likely be another one coming after christmas.
