I have been using WD Purple drive 1TB variant since 2 and half years. I usually placed my pc vertical that my drive was at 90° PC wasn’t booting up so that I again placed it horizontal and it worked fine I think the orientation matters after a time because the mottor of the disk cannot tolerate the weight of platers and it won’t function because of friction.
