A little help please

recently (6months back) had a pc built…big upgrade

AMD 6 core + 1GB gfx card and 8gb g-skill ripjaw memory (just added 2x4gb more taking to max 16gb memory

running Windows 7 operating system

just purchased a second internal WD0020EARS 2TB HDD (now have 2 installed) as well as a second external “My Book Essentials” (again, now have 2 along with an “Elements 1tb brick” and 3 more non WD externals)

The NEW(er) essentials is the usb3 model

my question is this…how come the “transfer rate” is EXACTLY the same as the USB2

I’m a bit of a pc numpty but I’m assuming the usb ports on board (back of PC) surrounded in BLUE are the usb3

can anyone explain what Im doing wrong please as my I.T. bloke disappeared back in October and I’m trying to do it myself so before whingeing its WRONG I must first confirm I’ve done everything correctly
