500gb my passport essential doesn't show up

I’ve bought the 500gb passport about a year ago and it almost worked well. But two days ago, the drive is not being recognized by my notebook. There is only the symbol of the virtual CD but no symbol of a mass storage medium. can anyone help?

Can you see the drive in Disk Management?

I can’t see the drive in the disc management, and now the symbol of the virtual CD also doesn’t show up anymore.

Several things you can try:

Make sure you are using a cable that’s 18 inches or less.
Change USB cable.
Make sure you are connected directly to the pc, and not to a USB hub.
Try the drive on another pc.

If the drive still won’t show up, then it has most likely failed, and will need to be replaced.
