4t will not allow me to open my files

Someone please help.  I just bought this device 10 days ago and I’ve been backing up everything (files/folders/pictures/etc.) and now it will not allow me to open any of the files.  First, it wouldn’t recognize the my book.  Finally, after 30 minutes of rebooting, moving USB drives, etc. it finally read it.  Yippee - well, that didn’t last long.  When I tried to save more, it says: “Error copying file or folder” - Device not ready.  Now I cannot read/open any files either. 

Please, please someone say everything is not lost and I can get this data back.  This is terrible for a device only 10 days old.

Help me. 

Hello, welcome to the Community. Sorry to hear you cannot access your files. Have you tried using another USB cable or connecting the My book to another PC? In any case you can try using a data recovery software, using Google you can find several options. You can also contact any of the data recovery partners on the WD support page.
