3Tb My Book not recognized after firmware update

I have a 3Tb USB 3.0 My Book. A few days ago it told me there was a firmware update for my drive, so i updated it. Ever since then my drive will just all of a sudden disconnect itself. It is still powered up but is not shown in my computer, if i unplug the power and then plug it back in the drive will show up again in my computer. But after a few minutes or even sometimes after an hour the drive is gone again and once again if i unplug and plug it back in it works again for a short time.

I had no problems with this drive until i did the firmware update so i am led to believe the firmware update ruined my drive, is there any way i can fix this??

The firmware does not ruin the drive but a failed attempt of updating the firmware does

this is the main reason why in the instructions you are told to backup data in case of something like this

you can try updating the firmware on another computer and see if able to get the drive showing
