3 TB MY Book

I just purchased a 3TB MY Book to back up my three computers.

The actual goal is to make images full images of each computer’s hard drives in case there is a problem.

One computer is an XP desk top and the other two are Windows 7 laptops that are not networked at my home.

The desk top is hardwired to my router and the laptops are wireless.

The lap tops are are used in numerous locations with wireless and one is set up for a wired and wireless work network.

I few years ago I purchased Acronis Tru Image 10 Home which has been upgraded to 2009 and it is installed on the desktop.

I see that the software supplied with My Book can only backup computers that are on the same network so I have not installed it on any of the computers.

Am I correct in saying that I need to upgrade my current Acronis to the family pack (3 computers) so I can place the Images of each individual PC in seperate folders on the MY Book?

Hello,

Make sure to check with Acronis support to see if the software is capable of creating the image to a external hard drive.

The My Book is a plug and play drive and you should be able to do that.

Also I believe that the drive needs to be connected directly to the computers. Not sure if the software will do an image backup through the network.
