I have a 2TB WD My Book Essential hard disk which contains family photos. The control card on this hard disk is: 4061-705094-001 Rev 13R, this control card is not working but the hard disk itself is fine - which means all the files this card has encrypted are no longer accessible. I need a card to replace the existing card that will be able to read the encrypted files so that I can download all the files onto a backup hard drive.
Currently when you initially plug the hard drive into a USB 3.0 port the WD Mybook is eventually recognized and the directories and image files are listed in File Explorer and it is possible to copy one or two small image files before the drive shuts down. if you unplug the drive and let it rest for 30 minutes and start again the same scenario happens like something is overheating.
Can anyone offer suggestions about how to retrieve the data or obtain a replacement encryption card?
