New PR2100 setup not going well - Blinking red drive LEDs

Just received a PR2100 12TB NAS for an open RMA. Hooked it up as directed. Went to mycloud/setup. It found the NAS and gave me the following message: “Insert Hard Drives. Please insert hard drives … PR2100 system in order to setup the system properly. To purchase hard drives, please visit the WD Store. Once the hard drive(s) is inserted, click Continue.”

I confirmed that there were drives in the PR2100 and clicked on continue. A box came up that said “Updating…”. Both drive lights started blinking red. That was over an hour ago. No change since then. Is this normal? If so, how long does this process usually take?

RMA device not working? I’d guess it’s still a faulty unit.

You may have better luck in the dedicated PR series subforum where people more knowledgeable about the PR series may be able to help. Generally this subforum (My Cloud) is for the single bay/single drive My Cloud devices. Typically (at least on the single bay My Cloud units) a Red (solid) LED indicates a serious issue with the hard drive. Check the User Manual for the PR model you have to see what a blinking red LED indicates.

Thanks. I just got off the phone with WD. They are declaring my replacement unit DOA (Dead On Arrival). They have opened another RMA for me to ship it back and for them to try again.
