Hey hello, this is my first ever post in here, so i recently got two WD Blue 500gb, the box and the packaging is literally the same but when i check in the dashboard one of em doesnt show the full name like the other and also the firmware is different, plus theres no 00sm50 after the wds500g2b0a, is this a totally different drive? or is it because im using a caddy? thanks and cheers!
I think the difference is in the use of different firmware versions.
The X61190WD stands for a thirt party firmware, probably from Marvel.
The 401020WD is from WD itself, so it can give more information about the SSD, like the brandname name of the SSD.

I don’t know which version is older, but it looks to me the tirth party firmware is the oldest en the “own” WD firmware the newest.
It’s also possible that the different versions are produced more or less at the same time but in different factories.
All three versions are supporting a firmware upgrade, so maybe that’s an option for you.
