1TB My passport Essential usb 3.0. not recognized

Dear Friends,

I have 1TB My passport Essential usb 3.0.
I have a problem, as soon as I connect my external hard drive it is making click noise for some time and stops and it s not getting detected.  I can feel that the drive spins and the comuter tries to lad the drivers but fnally failed in the process.

I have tried connecting the drive to many other computers but still the problem persists. I am usng the original usb cable provided by WD along with the drive.

Please help me with the solution to my problem, as i have all my photos, documents…etc and important data in this.

Thanks in Advance.

Pasha

If the data is important what you should do is to turn it off and not try to power it on again. It will not work on its own anymore, then get data recovery specialist to look at it.

Your drive has head damage most likely, and that can lead to platter damage. After platter damage chances of saving anything off the drive are clost to 0.

hi…

Hi,

I had ran the diagnostic test (Extended) as suggested y the WD. It is getting detected in the test but showing the HDD size as 0Mb instaead of 1TB. But when I am trying to eject the drive, it is getting ejected safely without any errors. Please suggest me if I can get my data back or get the drive detected without going to Data recovery option which is very costly for me.

Thanks in Advance.

clicking sound = dead heads = drive can not read. We recover drives with these problems, but it is not a simple push button recovery type of case.
