I have My Cloud EX4100 with 4 x 6TB Drives. Drives in Bay 1 and 2 are configured as JBOD Volume_1(6TB) and Volume_2(6 TB). Drives in Bay 3 and 4 are configured as Spanning Volume_3 (12TB) with encryption.
I am trying to find if one of my drives 3 and 4 part of Spanning Volumes fail, will I loose all the data in Volume_3 or will I still be able to access the data from other drive ?
Hello, the way that spanning works is that it connects drives, when you fill all the information in the first drive, the seconds starts working, meaning that if you loose drive 3 in the EX 4100 any information that was saved in there will be gone but the information in drive 4 should be intact as long as the information doesn’t span from drive 3 to 4, and example of this would be that you only have a 1 GB left in drive 3 and you transfer a 5 GB, 1 GB will be on drive 3 and the rest on drive 4.
