My passport wireless doesn't work well with the laptop

When I plug-in the my passport wireless in to the usb of the laptop, the wifi LED stays blue and the wifi won’t be turned off. So when I try to transfer video’s from the my passport to the laptop, it transfers it with the wifi wich is not as fast as with the USB cable. The laptop doesn’t reconise the my passport wireless as plugged-in but via the network. Wich normally will turn of when you connect the my passport wireless to a PC.

How can the laptop reconise the my passport wireless again so I can transfer the files trough the USB cable?

Thanks,

Douwe

Go to the Dashboard Hardware tab and make sure the Drive Lock is off.

If that is already off then try a system reset.

What is the operating system on your laptop?

Have you tried another usb port?

Thanks for your reply.

I have turned the drive lock off, now the power led is blinking white. Which means reset. Is this good?

The operating system is windows 8.

Yes I tried other USB ports and cables with no result.

If the led is blinking white it means that the drive is being accessed via the usb port. Can you see the drive on Windows 8 via explorer.

The drive lock stops the drive being seen / accessed via a USB port.

Thanks, it works now. It would cost a lot of time to get it to work without your help. So thank you very much!
