1 TB passport Drive asking to be initalized

Hey guys

I am sure that this has been spoken of before but I haven’t been able to find it. I have a 1TB My passport drive.
I use it on occasion to store data when I plugged it in recently.
Windows tells me that it needs to be initialized. Have I lost my data? What recovery software may I use to attempt to recover the data?

I think I should point here that since you don’t know where to get data recovery software then it is very unlike that you will be able to set the correct settings for your case. If you have important data in you drive then maybe you should contact a professional data recovery company before risking to cause more damage and losing your data for good.
