I just started having this problem, but it is getting really annoying. I will be playing something off the hard drive, and the hard drive will just disconnect. Then, it will reconnect without me having to do anything with it. I have noticed on the PS3 forums that others are having this same issue, but it was never resolved. Any suggestions?

Does the drive also disconnects when plugged into a computer?
No, the drive does not disconnect at all while connected to a computer. I have run tests on it using partition wizard 8, and there appears to be nothing wrong.
I have noticed that the back usb port is quite loose. In fact, I am able to wiggle the cord while it is plugged into the drive, which connects and disconnects the drive. Should I replace the cable, or is there a way to tighten the connect in the back of the drive?
