1 bad sector found, should I be worried?

I’m using a pair of WD Red on a Synology file server in a RAID 1 configuration. I noticed that one of disk has one bad sector. It’s out of warranty although it wasn’t when the bad sector was found. It’s been up for a little over 10,000 hours.
How worried should I be? would you replace it soon? Thanks.

one bad sector is no issue, but if more and more bad sectors may occur, then you should replace the drive.

Your NAS will warn you right in time if this happens. There are internal triggers in the so called S.M.A.R.T. values of each drive. One trigger is used when the amount of bad sectors will reach a critical value. Then the drive is in serious conditions and shall be exchanged immediately. Another trigger is used if the amount of bad sectors exceeded the defined value. If this happens, the drive is dead and cannot be accessed anymore.

If your NAS warns you that the amount of bad sectors “reached the critical level”, replace this drive.
