I know I am not the only one out there on surface tablet. I got this because I could "Use WD’s free apps to upload, access and share from anywhere with your PC, Mac, tablet or smartphone" Last I checked a surface was a tablet... Please run support for this.
Please create an app which allows playback of music in a more user friendly manner which allows playing a whole album/artist/playlist (ie. in a similar way to Synologys 'DS Audio' app - which appears to have good functionality).
I've just purchased a WD My Cloud and I was really impressed with its ease of set up and the WD desktop and iOS app which allowed me to move & view files easily. I am however very dissapointed with the lack of media functionality of the apps to the point where I am considering returning the product.
Using Java in the browser is a terrible idea from a security and compatiblity perspective. There are a ton of security exploits and java in the browser should just be disabled by default. Also many mobile browsers don't support it.
It would be great to see Chromecast added to the iOS MyCloud app functionality. I see that AppleTV is already an option and I may need to just go with AppleTV but Chromecast is a fantastic device and cost $50 less. Also does anyone know if there is any way to get the MyCloud to communicate with Plex?
Sometimes SmartWare crashes. New or changed files will then not be saved. If the PC restarts, SmartWare then is the meaning, all files are correct saved. I have found this problem more than one time, reported to support. The SmartWare application was fixed, but the problem still happens.
My request is to spend SmartWare a sanity job, which will be performed, when SmartWare starts up. This sanity job checks all the folders, which are marked to be saved. This can be done in a less priority thread. If the sanity job finds unsaved files, then they will me marked and saved in background.
When uploading images from mobile devices today they are uploaded in random order and given a new name. I would suggest, that the images are uploaded sorted by date and time. When showing images to friend and family it is a better experience that the images is shown sorted by date and time. Hollyday images are much more fun to watch sorted.
When using the Android App and I select "SD Card (All files)" to upload, it u/l's from the default Internal memory sdcard0 Instead of my physcially installed Micro SDcard Slot (extSdCard) can this please be corrected so that those of us that are using Physcial Micro SDcard card Slot's are able to u/l from it?
You could give us a selection choice, or allow us to type in the path. I have all my files, picture etc all going to my 64Gb micro sdcard and it is a royal pain in the butt now to try and upload them to the WDMyCloud. The DropApp easily allows this and I was hoping to be able to do this with the WD App too..........right now the WD App is disappointing because of this, but it ought be a simple programming fix.
There are ample hits on Google for the topic "How do I backup mapped drives using WD Smartware [pro].
Please, please, please include backing up from mapped drives.
I am trying to use a My Passport Ultra and WD Smartware Pro v. 2.2.1.
The Passport is connected to and the software is installed on my laptop to which is mapped to another hard drive from a machine on our small business' network. The files on that drive are an extension of what I use and produce using the laptop. When I'm in the office, the files on the mapped drive are the same importance to me as the files on the hard disk inside the laptop. I'm buying and trying to use the Passport to protect my work, not a machine. Right now, the Passport and it's software are not succeeding in that purpose.
Secure the app with a password.I (or someone else) can discover my whole server with the app on my ios device to easily. Second thing: if i gave some users folder restrictions, the users can still see all folders and whats inside of them with the app(Ios and Android). So this function doesnt work verry well... And last..I read this earlier...Possibility to auto backup the pictures/videos when connected on a wifi network. Android have it.. why not ios? This makes it much easier and gives the user a lot of comfort!!
I bought a 3TB My Book to use solely for backing up my NAS. I was disappointed to learn that the SmartWare application does not support a network drive as a backup source. Nowhere in the description of the item does it mention lack of network drive support as a source.
Please highly consider adding this feature to future versions of SmartWare. I should not be forced to write a script to perform a simple job that your application can easily be updated to perform.
After consulting support in The Netherlands I was requested to post my idea on this forum.
When I'm uploading pictures or movie files from my mobile device (iPhone/iPad) using the My Cloud or WD Photos app the following happens. The app gives each file a new name like WD_0001.jpeg for example. Unfortunately it does this not in the original order. So all my pictures uploaded via my mobile devices are in a different order than the originals. Files uploaded via my iMac keep their original file names and for this reason also their sort order. Can this be changed in a new release of the IOS apps? So either retain their original names or assign new names in the same sort order as the original files.
