Again, I have seen this posted previously but need to keep pushing WD to make the changes. When photos are uploaded to MyCloud from portable devices using WD Photos (preferably automatically sometime soon!), can you please ammend your software so that the original photo date is retained and not the upload date. After all, do you honestly know anyone who would want the upload date and not the oringianl date. Dropbox and iCloud can both do it, surely you can manage it too. After all, you are selling MyCloud as a personal cloud system but dont provide the simple benefits that the competition do. Come on PLEASE!
This is nothing new but just need to pressure WD into making software changes. I have WD Photos installed on my family's iPhones and iPads to use with my WD 4TB MyCloud. Currently I use Dropbox and previously used iCloud to automatically upload photos from the portable devices to the cloud storage. Come on WD, please provide an automatic upload option (with choice of destination folder would be nice too) so that my partner and kids don't need to remember to do it or keep having to ask me how to do it!
It would be a rather good enhancement to the WDMycloud Android App to be able to index by genre, artist, album name. At present only a list of albums indexed by artist appears possible. Using Windows Media Player on a Windows Tablet full indexing is possible on the Music setup on Mycloud 2T device attached to my router.
Right now, the wd software does not offer the option to back up files that are stored in n sd card. Since there are a lot of portables out there that usually lack space in their ssd's or hdd's, many users store their photos, docs etc. in an sd card. I think that it is necessary for the wd software to be able to back up files from the sd card to the wd drive. I consider this as essential and should be included in the very next update.
I am using the MyCloud Desktop App. It is very easy to accidentally drag and drop files and folders to various locations on the drive while navigating this app. The files are then buried in some unexpected location, and it takes a lot of time to find them again and move them back where they belong.
Please consider implementing a "Confirmation" window, so we have an opportunity to confirm or cancel the move before it takes place. Have this option be a setting that can be turned on or off by the user, since not everyone will want to receive the confirmation window each time.
Currently I can't use My Passport Wireless to backup my photos or video by WD Photos. It is great to add that feature into the WD Photos app. It helps to sync the mobile device as a backup drive as well as external storage expansion. Looking forward for this feature!
I think the iOS app needs an update. As soon as I want to stream an Dolby Digital encoded movie through the My Cloud App, I get no sound. Simple mono or stereo tracks work. Other apps as FileBrowser are doing it, here you can even chose the track language (if there are any) you want. Do you agree? Many thanks.
It has only indirectly something to do with my previous post, but I just saw that FileBrowser can even display the cover of music albums! All apps from WD including the iTunes server can't do. Can you check this please as well? Thanks WD.
Last request: Can you check if it's possible to get a notification as soon as one other user puts something into the cloud? Thank your for checking.
This is similar to another idea posted, but more specific issue is how the drive sorts the photos while using the WD Photo App on iOS devices, currently the drive sorts based on MODIFIED date, that really needs to be changed to DATE TAKEN, makes no sense to sort by modified date. The sort works perfectly fine on the WD My Book Live that drive sorts by date taken.
1- I cannot auto upload photos from iOS. I have to manually reload. Android users can do this, why not ios. 2- dates of images are changed and exif information lost 3- stores data in public folder, can not privately store images from iOS device. I bought the device to backup pc files and iPhone images from camera roll. I have to select all each time AND I have make sure device does not close or I switch to another app.
If WD would allow this (like they do #1 on android), I could see keeping the device. Right now, it is a failure. (Posts over the last 2 years does not add confidence)
When WD Smartware creates a backup, it assigns a meaningless name such as "Volume.474e546.7924....." It would be really nice if this backup could be renamed to something more meaningful such as "Pictures Backup"
Hi there. I bought the WD MyCloud device and it' really nice. But two annoying bugs (features?) of ios app makes it almost useless for me.
1) it doesn't play next track when ios device is locked. How should I listen to my music, with screen is always on? That's absolutely not a model of i-devices usage as players 2) ok, probably I should download my music to i-device and listen it locally. Let's try. Oupsss. It doesn't download folders with content. I wanna listen dozens of audio files and I cannot structure them by folders! What's happening? Why did I buy the WD MyCloud hardware since I cannot use in as remote player?
I recently purchased a new Android tablet running Android 5.0 (Lollipop). It only has 16GB of online storage so I bought a 64GB Micro SD card. Unfortunately, I can't write to it. There's a "save file to SD card" feature in the My Cloud app, but it doesn't work. Even if I move my My Cloud app to my SD card, it still writes my files to the internal memory.
Android 5.0 has opened up new APIs so that SD cards are usable. Please utilize these new APIs as soon as possible. I've been using a MyBook Live for years and I have a lot of files on there. I think the apps for iOS and Android have always been good - but this hurdle has to be overcome for me to continue using (and purchasing) WD's storage options.
Ideally, it would be great to just tell the app "Sync everything to my SD card no matter where you're installed". It would be wonderful to sync directories from my MyBook Live right to my SD card. Just restoring the fuctionality of the 'Save file to SD card' command would be a nice start.
