WD Hub bugs open for ThumbGen v1.3

As I am currently working on the next TG release I’d like to have an overview on the open bugs related to the WD TV Hub support.

  1. Incorrect year display (as far as I remember I still have to output the correct format yyyy-mm-dd), right?  This is not a bug, just go to Options and define yyyy-MM-dd as format.

  2. Incorect & symbol in the generated xml

  3. Incorect (confusing) naming of the WD Hub (new fw) in the Naming setting → should be WD Hub (TV Shows)?

  4. ??

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I experienced an issue while recreating XMLs from TGMDs. It does not create new XML based on selected template. It only extract the XML from TGMD. This is annoying when you are moving from moviesheet based theme to the one which uses *_sheet.avi type of sheets.

Please check.

Hi,

all genres in one field, i.e. Action, Thriller, Krimi

bit2bit

Yes tom :

1.) “yy-mm-dd” is what the player need!

The Genre listing is different for movies and TVShows? I see I have one listing type for “old fw/movies” and a different one for “new fw/tv shows”…

The genre listing should always be the same, for movies and tv-shows…

The Hub/SMP shows only the first entry, the rest are ignored.

What the Heck is " Krimi"  ???

Some new sub-culture anime jap thingy perhaps ?

“Krimi” is german and means “Crime”

So what’s “Action” and “Thriller” German for ?

wait…  maybe i dont wanna know

P.S. if Thumbgen output …

<genre>Action, Thriller, Krimi</genre>

There would be reports of a language bug … “Genre tags incorrect and inconsistant language”

So what would be a correct output in the xml for a movie that has 3 genres?

1. Action, Thriller,  Krimi

2. Action

     Thriller

      Krimi

3. Action

Are we 100% sure the format is the same for all firmwares and for both movies and tvshows? (I got xml files from users showing all 3 options from above therefore I am highly confused  )

I’ve checked the code and during “Create sheets from metadata” the current configuration is used. Therefore you should get a new format if your current settings are specifying a different format. Inside .tgmd I always store my own format.

The way Thumbgen is currently generating the genres is the correct way.  The HUB will only use the first genre, but when the HUB generates the xml using the internal scraper “2.” is the way it generates it.

Having it is generate the way requested using “1.” is not a BUG but a request.  However this is not the correct way that it should be generated and if it is, then the HUB will not corrrectly filter files for those that wish to filter by “Genre”.

There is really nothing that should be changed in the way that thumbgen creates the xml’s other than having 2 different ways it generates for Movies and TV shows.

These are the xml’s from the HUB’s internal scaper:

Although TV shows shows only 1 genre, it doesn’t matter if it has one or multiple genres like Movies do, because the HUB will only use the first genre anyway.

Hi,

I have already created new sheets using tgmd as source and regenerating all from internet. But it would be great if an option is provided to create XML according to selecting template or as stored in tgmd.

If you change the selected template, and already have them all generated with tgmd files, click the button at the top “create from metadata” this will regenerate all videos selected using data already gathered in the tgmd and edit to be using the new template.

Are you experiencing “Out of memory” exceptions when using ThumbGen?

Could you tell me in which circumstances?

1. Only bug I found isn’t really a bug… it’s more along the lines of a suggestion to set a higher default setting for semi-automatic mode. I downloaded 1.3 asap for work with Black Mamba 1.9’s theme.bundle 2 click templates. And even followed Dev’s pdf instructions. And ran into a snag. My default wait setting was like between 3-5 seconds to choose the correct title. And I don’t know if this is supposed to happen, but it seems like the program bottle-necks the information. Freezes for 2-4 seconds, then I can choose. Which left me only a second or two. Thankfully I figured out how to change the setting to 10 seconds, to give me a workable 5 seconds. for both choices. Choosing the correct title AND wether or not I want to alter the offered movie sheet and cover. But everytime I use the semi-auto I still get that timed freeeze, so I’ve opted to bite the bullet for now and make my sheets REALLY pretty, by going the manual route. That’s my choice. Besides the program freeze for semi-auto, once I increased the time to 10-15 seconds to make a choice, It was going smoothe enough that I could be happy with, but decided to manually choose each fanart and cover.

2.  I’m not good with networking, but could this bottle-neck on my end? or does it do that for everyone? Kinda stall as it gathers the info to be displayed? Do I need to set any firewall settings for it or no? Like port forwarding etc?

3.  Oh, a suggestion? it would also be handy if the file that it was analyizing (search the db for) was also listed in the window title bar of the select which movie screen. As is now, even when on manual or semi, I’m not always aware of which file its asking me to find its imdb counterpart. Some of the results are in other languages, or have multiple similar names. I am trying to do all my movies in as little amount of time as possible, so my first run though is check-marking all the A’s, then next run through is all the B;s etc. If I want to know which movie title I need to choose from, as is, I have to move that window out of the way, to see the window below it which is dimmed out, but has the clear blue text of what file it’s currently analyizng. Just to read the year so I can play Match-up, Again, that’s just a suggestion for the future of this wonderful application.

4.  Keep up the great work!

Edit: For the record. Using v1.3 on Win7 Ultimate 86x/32bit.

if you experience a freeze effect in semi automatic mode that is is your computer running out of memory because there is a lot of information coming in at this moment. It should get significantly better if you uncheck the “autorefresh” underneath the preview window.

I am not sure what is causing the lag for the movie picker window, this pops up instantly for me but might be a combination of everything, assuming you generate the files on your hub directly then you have network, internet search and upload + memory invloved. If that is the case you might wanna check if the lag persists when you create the movie sheets on your computer’s hard drive, those are usually 3 times faster for me.

On my P4 3.2 1gig memory, this is the fastest way. Once they complete I copy them to the Hub. If I have a lot of them to do I just open the Hub and pull the drive out and connect it to my PC with a USB adapter kit. This is NOT for the faint at heart and will void the warranty but my Hub is out of warranty so it matters not to me.

My lag has disappeared  Thank you Dev.

I popped open my Task Manager and watched what happens and noticed my cpu was spiking to 100% during these searches. I unchecked the Auto-refresh under the preview window and now it only spikes to 70-90%.

I have 3GB RAM (2.75GB Usable, and an AMD Athlon™ II Dual-Core M320 2.1GHz laptop that I plug the external HDDs into for faster scans, rather than working off the network.

Now my only problem is with thumbgen and wd hub working in tandem.

I used the Black Mamba theme.bundle and everything went smoothe, however I’m missing some deail on the HUB itself. When I highlight a movie, the theme and movie sheet show up beautifully. With all the info. But when I press Options and go to “View Info”, for Say Daybreakers 2009. I get the proper Cover with the 97 Minutes written under it, as well as the proper background too. In the Info sections I got the following:

Total Time 98 minutes

Date: 2009-10-01

Star rating

Director: Peter Spierig

Genre: Drama

And the full movie Summary just fine.

But the Actor Field is listing N/A.

Now, bearing all that in mind. Out of curiosity I went back to highlight the movie, chose options, chose rescan info.

Now the backdrop is there but not what thumbgen created. Same for the intital cover thumb, no more minutes listed on it. I understand I just regrabbed info from a database so that was expected. Going into options and view info I get the new thumb showing (without minutes under it) and everything else, including all Actors. Which is great.

But I don’t know how to use thumbgen and the Black Mamba theme.bundle to have the best of both worlds. Basically, everything the theme.bundle does, PLUS to have that Actor info listed in the Options>View Info screen on the Hub.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

I was already setting up the templates for an upcoming version if you must have the actors in the view info version on top of having them hardcoded in the movie sheets you go into thumbgen options -  input/output naming - and change the drop down box in the line “Movie info export” from "export using WDTV Live Hub Format (new FW) to “export using WDTV Live Hub Format”
