Video tutorial Explaining How to generate the moviesheets  with thumbgen :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbkWtoA7GSI

Tutorial2 : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alJK-dpBrNs       (for non-see through movie sheets)

Movie sheet templates:

First download the Mega Template pack by Extremedigital:

http://www.mediafire.com/?9zb2ruc4b4kluyy

and extract the content to ThumbGen 1.2.3.0\Templates\

http://www.mediafire.com/?7e0s0x27y67p9ra

http://www.mediafire.com/?a41ow2sublpvu2n

Extract the above files and paste all folders in the following location ThumbGen 1.2.3.0\Templates\Template_Mega_Pack_1.7

Your version of thumbgen may differ.

open thumbgen

go to options in thumbgen–>input/output Naming and change the main moviesheet to the following

$M$N

and select png as the file type extension.

Now…

generate your moviesheet with either of the above template…and finally

rename the moviesheet generated to a jpg file …e.g. rename moviesheet.png to moviesheet.jpg

NOTE:

1. Do so manually don’t use any image editor to save a jpg, else the transparency will be lost.

Enjoy.

1.1 You may also use a non-transparent moviesheet so just use a template with non-transparent background and keep the file format as .jpg

2.0 Media library on the LIVE HUB should be ON.

2.1 Your moviesheets should be accompanied with its respective metadata file else it won’t be displayed.

i.e

video.mkv

video.xml

video.jpg    (movie sheet)

moviesheet samples:
http://www.mediafire.com/?0fc538sdss8fqs1

You can use the above to test the moviesheets…

As you can see in the screenshot below, we can in a sense keep the cover box.

First Read extremedigitals post’s about the dummy file structure here (its in the first post …): http://community.wdc.com/t5/Themes/Anozided-ExtremeMix-Moviesheet-s-Hub-Theme/td-p/125052

So

what i did was to create a dummy file with notepad. (just create a blank file with notepad and rename to required name and file extension)

eg.

1.0

Easy A 2010.mkv_sheet.mkv

and generate a thumbnail (with thumbgen if possible) for that file :

Easy A 2010.mkv_sheet.jpg

next

2.0

Easy A 2010.mkv                  --(The Actual movie)

Easy A 2010.jpg                   --The movie’s cover box thumbnail…

Easy A 2010.xml                    --meta data

next

3.0

create a folder for example EasyA movie and place all files in it i.e:

Easy A 2010.mkv                  --(The Actual movie)

Easy A 2010.jpg                   ----The movie’s cover box thumbnail…

Easy A 2010.xml                   -meta data

Easy A 2010.mkv_sheet.mkv            --The dummy file

Easy A 2010.mkv_sheet.jpg             --The MovieSheet

Easy A 2010.mkv_sheet.xml            --Meta data … just make a copy of your movie’s metadata and rename as the dummy file name

( Note: the meta data for the moviesheet is not required, but you could use it  as a backup)

you could also create a thumbnail for that folder…

rename to folder.jpg (folder thumbnail)

Next:

4.0

In the Menu goto  Setup----> Video  Settings -----> Video Playback Sequence

      Change to Repeat All

This will bounce it from the dummy file to the main movie…

Means you can press play(don’t press on OK) on the moviesheet and the movie starts playing !!!

Thanks to extremedigital!

I made a small modification of your theme to show 10 thumbnails in gallery view…

here are the 2 xml i modified… just overwrite the originals…

rv_browse_common_widgets_newGallery.xml

http://www.mediafire.com/?ar7hk5rbu8ransv

rv_gallery_browse_page.xml

http://www.mediafire.com/?biz8ewk4dnrnd6l

This is sweet, but I’m not fully understanding how this works. I’ll play around with it and read through it a few more times, but thia is really nice being able to use a theme with this.

Nice modification hades666, its basically the video view transported to the gallery view. It will work well with moviesheets that have a fanart as background.

But it won’t work well with see through (tranparent background)moviesheets… with backdrop generated from the internet. As the thumbnails below it can bee viewed through the movie sheet…

Was just checking out Youtube and saw your vid.  Came back here to post.  I going to be working on this tonight and see what I can come up with.

Where do I find  the “Get Info” to generate the XML files…looking and can’t find it. I did just turn my Media Library to on.  Not sure if that has anything to do with it?

Should the output file .jpg be cropped to a smaller file size?  They are coming out very large.

Thanks!

Hi Droidbrotha,

The file should be a 1280x720 jpg, which is standard on most thumbgen templates.

The reason for this is that it will fill up the screen exactly.

After you switch on your Media Library let the Hub finish scanning your drives, (Note this could take a while) the way to tell easily that it is finished is that the front lights will stop flashing.

After that enter the folder with a movie you want to scan and press info on your remote ‘Get Info’ will now be the first on the list.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply.  So now I have to do that (Get info) to ALL of my movies?  Man that will take a while. :frowning:

Well if you want complete info of the movie (not just the info of the custom moviesheet) then yes,

else you can simply generate a blank xml file manually…

The first picture is using either my theme or firetix (well actually that’s firetix but you get a similar view in mine)

The template is my ‘Extreme_FinalMix_BluRayCase_2_SHEET’

The view is Movies ----> View by Folder

Note use the dummy movie file as explained in my thread

BIG update on my theme coming later today

boucher any theme can be modified for moviesheets, just we are ironing out the bugs and the naming structure at the moment
