Watch movies on tv through ethernet - possible?

@danner

Not real clear of your question when you ask:

“My question is, is it possible to watch the video’s that i have on my external hard drive on the TV?”

You have an external drive conneted to your WDTV – do you mean this one, or a drive elsewhere, say on your computer?  I will assume you can play to TV from drive on the WDTV, and answer the second choice; the drive on a PC.

Yes, you can, but that’s not what the ethernet cable on the TV is for; you access the videos on a PC’s external drive via the WDTV’s network shares capability.  Have you set up your home network to share?  If not, you need the crash course Home Networking 101.  A lot is explained in the complete WDTV user guide, in WIndows Help and all over the internet.

The ethernet connection for your TV is used for things like connecting to the internet to update your TVs firmware, to access streaming media services, and if it is a DLNA capable TV, you can access media that way, too.

Basically we need more info about your system.
